CBS PGDM – A Unique Approach to Management Education

CBS PGDM provides the right tool kit to the students to ensure their success in future careers. The curriculum is a blend of on- and- off campus activities. On campus activities include classroom lectures, business consultation sessions and residential periods. The off-campus activities include in – company projects, business consultations and real time problem mitigation.

All those elements which are desired by industries but not usually found in traditional MBA program are incorporated in CBS curriculum. Various modules and courses are linked to the overall design of the PGDM, thereby CBS students experience the key management processes are connected in overall network and how business functions build on top of one another. The objective of CBS PGDM is to develop Analytical thinking, Strategic thinking, Facilitation of critical problem solving skills, Communication skills and Information analysis. CBS PGDM is closely interwoven with a network of industry interface through guest speakers from various companies and eminent members on the advisory board.

NASSCOM has estimated that from 50,000 today, the demand for Analytics professionals in India will grow to 2,50,000.India will remain the preferred destination for Analytics Outsourcing as compared to other Asian countries like Philippines and China. Analytics require skills that are not easily available in these countries. India’s Analytics talent pool will be in high demand because of their process expertise and English language proficiency.

CBS PGDM is a 2 year programme spread over 4 semesters. : There would be summer internship in companies of repute at the end of 1st and 3rd Semesters.

International Tour

For the benefit of the students, CBS thought and planned to execute an International tour for all its interested students. This tour helps students to have both knowledge and cross cultural exposure. During the tour, mentor (professor) students spend time together in the pursuit of learning while working on a solution to an industry problem. Unlike a usual foreign trip which is mostly a leisure sojourn with a day’s visit to some industry, we deliver real international insight into a practical problem with fun unlimited to all our students…!!

Passion to be a game changer


CBS program is less about theory and focus is on application and implementation. There is a pool of participating companies which provide their problems to CBS for solutions. The students can submit project reports as assignments with solution to problems provided by participating companies. To assist the students in writing these assignments there would be Business Consultation sessions (Called Tutoring) by experts from industry in the relevant areas. This would be followed by a group presentation and peer evaluation before the final submission.

The assignment will be graded by a team of professors and would give written comments to the students thereby ensuring knowledge exposure. The students, under the guidance of experts will get an opportunity to:


  • Analyze various organizations and their performance against national and international standards and experience the latest know-how and develop different action plans for change which can be implemented immediately in these organizations.
  • Develop Social and Leadership skills as the outcome of the program would make students learn more about themselves as leaders and also strengthen their confidence in their ability to lead and develop innovative and proactive response to challenges, both at professional and personal levels.

The program consists of seven modules of 4 courses each

  • International Management
  • Entrepreneurship
  • HRM
  • Financial Management
  • Operations Management
  • Marketing Management
  • Information Technology Management

Students have to submit 8 projects reports and assignment in addition to a master thesis. There will be four residential periods handled by international experts / professors in HRM, Financial Management, Strategy and Operations Management. In addition interested students can participate in Marketing Management residential in a foreign country.

Courses in the 2nd year cater to the interest and aptitude of individual students in various functional areas, to enable them specialize in their area of interest. Emphasis is on continuous evaluation of student’s performance throughout the four semesters, project reports, assignments and the master thesis culminating in a CGPA score on a 10 point scale which is reflected by a letter grade. The curriculum is synchronized with ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) to facilitate necessary equivalence to validate their degree all over the world for their further studies or placements abroad.
